One of several illustrations for Jonathan Eby of Quest Magazine that I did while living in Toronto. Jonathan was one of the best Art Directors that I have worked with. He would offer great ideas. He would take your conceptional rough into the direction that would help to make the final piece work. Almost anyone can criticize a work but few have the knowledge or talent to understand what isn’t working and how to fix it. Even worse, those in a position to do so often take it out of your hands and steer it into an area where its safe, mundane or just not working at all. Jonathan’s talent for critical analysis was an approach I aspired to during my time as a design instructor as well as in the process of my own work..
